Folk music may also be called as traditional music is the music of the common man. Folk Music originated from groups or communities singing and dancing together, the song and music reflecting their culture and songs that have been passed on from one generation to the other. Where there is music if the feet do not go tapping and your whole being responding to the popular melodious rhythms, then it truly does not make sense. Hence comes the concept of barn dancing. Barn dancing is not necessarily dancing in the barn but any social or community event wherein families or communities dance together to popular music. Some of the familiar dances related to barn dancing are square dancing, contra dancing, folk dancing, Morris dancing mostly done with a live band playing folk music or western music.
